Both new and existing homes sales show decline
(WASHINGTON) – Both new and existing home sales were down for the month of June, reflecting a bottoming of the housing market.
Total existing home sales declined 1.3 percent to an annual pace of 6.62 million units. Sales were 8.9 percent below the 7.27 million-unit pace in June 2005.
Sales of new single-family homes were down 3.0 percent in June to an annual rate of 1.131 million units. Year-to-date, actual new-home sales for the first half of the year were down 11.9 percent from the same period last year.
The national median existing-home price was $231,000 in June, up 0.9 percent from June 2005 when the median was $229,000
